Focus and Scope

This journal focuses on Islamic economics thought, research, and contemporary issues, aiming to critically examine and advance the theoretical and practical dimensions of Islamic economic principles.

Its scope encompasses a broad range of topics including, but not limited to, Islamic finance, banking, capital markets, wealth management (zakat, waqf, inheritance), Islamic economic philosophy, comparative economic systems, business ethics, halal supply chain management, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development from an Islamic perspective. The journal is intended to communicate original research, empirical studies, case analyses, and theoretical critiques that address current challenges and emerging trends in the field. It warmly welcomes interdisciplinary contributions from scholars and practitioners in economics, finance, law, shariah, sociology, and other related disciplines, fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic economics in both Muslim-majority and minority contexts.

An-Nuur: Journal of Islamic Studies, published twice in a year, is a bilingual (Indonesian and English), peer-reviewed journal, and specializes in Islamic economics thought, research, and present issues. All submitted articles are subject to the double-blind review process.

An-Nuur: Journal of Islamic Studies is a peer-reviewed journal, published biannually. It is available online as an open-access source as well as in print. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the editor-in-chief, the Editorial Board, the reviewer, and the Publisher.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in An-Nuur: Journal of Islamic Studies is an essential building block in developing a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific methods. Therefore, it is important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in publishing.

As the Publisher of An-Nuur: Journal of Islamic Studies, the publisher takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously, and it recognizes its ethical and other responsibilities. The publisher is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.

Duties of Editors & Reviewers

Editors

Publication Decisions: The editor is responsible for deciding which articles submitted should be published, guided by the journal's editorial board policies and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Fair Play & Confidentiality: Evaluates manuscripts for intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. Must not disclose information about a submitted manuscript to unauthorized parties.

Reviewers

  • Contribution: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and may assist the author in improving the paper.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that the authors have not cited.
Duties of Authors
  • Reporting standards: Authors should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Ensure entirely original works. If using the work/words of others, it must be appropriately cited or quoted.
  • Multiple Publication: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior.
  • Authorship: Limited to those who contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation. All co-authors must approve the final version.
  • Disclosure: Disclose any financial or substantive conflict of interest that might influence results or interpretation.

Authors are "Free of Charge" for the articles that have been accepted. If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
